Creating materials for the Apple Macintosh

You can use Question Tools Editor to export your lesson, survey or test as a set of web pages that can then be taken using an Apple Macintosh.

Browsers

Your Mac users must use Internet Explorer version 5 or above.

Drag buttons

Drag questions that use images as the drag areas work just as well across Macs and Windows PCs. However, where the drag is a standard button it leaves an unsightly trail across the screen on the Macintosh version of Internet Explorer. Other than that it works as it should. It is recommended that for drag questions where Macintosh users are taking the test you should use images rather than the default buttons.

Video

If you have included any video then it will not appear on the Macintosh, even if it is the native Quicktime (.mov) format. This is because our tests showed that Internet Explorer on the Mac repeatedly crashed when used with video of any sort.

Printing

Printing from a link is not possible in Internet Explorer 5 on the Macintosh. Consequently, if you enable printing this has no effect. Note that the user can still, regardless of the print setting in the test, print results. This is only the case on the Mac, it does not apply to the PC.
