Performance improvement map
One size does not fit all. We explore with our customers a full range of performance solutions to find the best fit often a blended performance improvement programme that makes best use of current resources and technology. We follow a systematic process to ensure we create effective programmes and can provide evidence that they have worked.
Current performance
What is the problem with the current level of performance? What would be the measurable objectives of any intervention to increase performance? What does successful performance look like?
Analysis
Where do the challenges lie? Performance is affected by a number of factors including knowledge, skills, attitudes, perceptions, environment and availability of support. Sometimes just changing one factor will not result in an improved level of performance if there is a barrier operating elsewhere.
Solving the problems
Even performance issues that primarily result from a lack of knowledge or skills may require a range of solutions - a blended and ongoing programme of communication, learning and support. Different solutions may work better in different environments and organisational cultures, so it's important to identify and evaluate all the possible options before planning any training/development programmes
Assessment
How do you assess performance - both on the learning programme and performing the relevant tasks. Do you need to comply with regulations and provide evidence of competency? How can you use online assessments effectively?
Evaluation
Performance improvement programmes need to be evaluated if you want to prove that they have been effective on a range of measures (including ROI). Evaluation needs to consider the whole performance problem and not just the knowledge and skills issues.
